"Six Decades of Fine Art -- Marie Findlay's Journey in the
Life of Artist"

Please join us … Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 6:30—8:30 p.m.
Brief introductory presentation at 7:15 p.m.
An extensive portion of Marie's body of artwork will
be on display in this special extended exhibition to be held at the
Bethesda Hospital gallery in St. Paul, Minnesota. The exhibit will
include a section reflecting on the artist's life and contributions
in addition to the many examples of her creative work. Both
original work and high quality signed artist proof Giclee prints are
presented for showing and sale. Purchases may be made through
this web site as well.

September 9, 2011 -- Memorial services were held for
fine artist, Marie Findlay, near her Wisconsin gallery and studio.
Marie passed a few days earlier at age 80 after a valiant battle
with a respiratory illness contracted during a hospital stay.

Marie loved beauty and art and continued to create
vibrant representations of her her world despite being diagnosed
with onset Alzheimer's Disease in her late 70's. Some of her
works created while confroting Alzheimer's include My Deer,
Agnes, and Fox in Black among others.

Marie was actively involved in the community.
Serving on various local and state boards and committees, she
contributed time, money, and art to worthy causes. A U.S. Air
Force veteran, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) afforded her
a 21-gun salute during interment ceremonies.
A commemorative art show will be held in her honor
October 5 - November 30, 2011 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Marie is
a registered member of the Minnesota Territorial Pioneers.
Born Marie Rondeau, the Rondeau's were French Canadians who helped
settle St. Paul and northern Wisconsin in the 1840's and 1850's.
Marie's life and legacy lives on through her art.

November, 2011 -- Fine artist Marie Findlay's pastel
"Bark Bay Slough" was added to the permanent Bethesda
Hospital Art Collection.
Capturing depth and vibrant colors, Bark Bay Slough
is an impressionistic view of a pristine area near the artist's
Wisconsin studio and gallery on the south shore of majestic Lake
Superior.

June, 2011 -- Marie displayed over eighteen pieces
of art over the last couple of months at this venue on 2nd Street in
Ashland, Wisconsin. Patrons purchased pieces of the framed
artwork. Both original works as well as high quality Giclee
prints were on hand.

August, 2009 -- Marie's Bark Point Studio and
Gallery hosted guests during the annual Art Crawl event in northern
Wisconsin. Visits to the gallery are usually by appointment
only, but doors were open to the public during this popular event.

January, 2009 -- Marie's work adorned the walls of
the Village Inn Restaurant in an extended engagement. The
artist was on hand at this popular Wisconsin venue to discuss her
work. Original works and framed Giclee prints were on display.

March, 2008 -- Twelve of Marie's recent works of
art, including some of her award-winning pieces, began an extended
engagement showing at the 2nd Street Bistro in Ashland, WI. An
artist's reception was was hosted by Paul and Jere Schroeder-Levelius
on March 22, 2008. Marie offers original works of art done in
various media as well as high quality signed and numbered artist
proofs created by the renowned Giclee reproduction method.

February, 2008 -- Marie's vibrant yet consoling
watercolor "Ann's Flowers" joined the permanent art
collection of the Washburn Cultural Center and Museum.
The painting was originally done as a memorial to
one of Marie's longtime friends, Ann Reha, who passed away in 2006.
The flowers were from Ann's memorial service.
"Ann was a beautiful person who cared for others and
liked to garden," explained Marie, "flowers truly typify Ann's
spirit and vitality."

Washington, D.C. -- 2007. Marie's
"Sunrise Mystique" was selected as the "best of the best"
and received a Best in Category award topping all
entries spanning the last three years of competition
for the NVCAF.
In a special showing, the visually stunning piece of
abstract art was exhibited
in the Russell Senate Office Building Rotunda in Washington, D.C.
from May 7 - May 11, 2007. The artists' reception was held
on May 8, 2007 in the Russell Senate Building which houses the
offices of the U.S. Senate. U.S. Secretary James Nicholson
officiated the national ceremony and presented the award.

- The Museum and Cultural Center, Washurn, Wisconsin
Art Crawl & Extravaganza --
- An "Art Crawl" is a phased event with various showing
dates and locations. Marie begins her Art Crawl
schedule on September 16, 2006 at the Village Inn in
Cornucopia, Wisconsin.

Marie’s
“Sunrise
Mystique” was recently
recognized winning
First Place
Honors in the
prestigious National Veterans Creative Arts Competition. Marie
and her husband, Jack, were invited to attend the competition’s
crowning exhibit and festival celebration in Denver, Colorado in
October, 2005.
A series of sunrise photographs
taken by Marie over time provided inspiration that culminated in
this acrylic and watercolor mixed media creation. "It is a
wonderful feeling to have my art appreciated and be given the
opportunity for great exposure at the Creative Arts Festival," said
Findlay to The Daily Press in its article.

Superior Art Experience On the Big Lake
Workshops in Self-Expression, Color, Design and Materials
These
summer workshops have been held on the inspirational south shore Lake Superior in Herbster, Wisconsin. They offer instruction in color design
and materials with emphasis on personal application and self
expression.

Marie's impressionism floral original, Dusty's Cherries,
won the 1st Place Award for Excellence in Watercolor Painting
in February at the Bay Area Art Exhibit 2006.

Marie Findlay's one artist show, "Six Decades of Fine Art
-- A Journey In the Life of An Artist," held an extended
engagement at Washburn, Wisconsin's Historical Museum & Cultural
Arts Center. More than an art show, the exhibit also
chronicled Marie's storied life and how her joys and personal
tragedies contributed to her resilience, optimistic outlook, and
artistic views.

Two of Marie's paintings won Best In Class Awards in different
categories recently in the regional finals of a 2006 national
creative arts competition. The two works of art,
"Feeding Frenzy" and "Flutterbys," won top
honors and have advanced to the regional and national finals
respectively.

Attendance exceeded expectations at the champagne opening of
"Transitions," a one artist show featuring the newest art of
Marie Findlay. The extended show was held at the Raindrop
Garden Gallery in Wisconsin and included several of Marie's more
recent signature works of art.
Vivid hues, wide ranging subject matter, and varied media
accentuated her work. Displayed works used oil paints,
watercolors, pen and inks, mixed media, and photography.

Marie's juried watercolor painting entry, Fragile Turtles,
won the Popular Choice Award at the 27th Annual Bay
Area Art Exhibition. Marie offers original works of art and
signed and numbered Artist Proofs and Limited Edition Giclee Prints.

Marie's love for art and nature are evident when, at 74 years of
age and recovering from shoulder surgery in Northern Wisconsin, she
was inspired to create the watercolor, Squirrel's Day.
Said one fellow artist, "Marie is the only person that I know whose
watercolors can look so much like an oil painting..."
